Architect: Garrison Architects
This project involved the complete interior renovation of Syracuse University's School of Architecture building, within 120,000 square feet of the existing 5-story Slocum Hall. Two new stairs attach Link Hall and Slocum at each floor.
The new "floating" auditorium is the centerpiece of the renovation. It is a state-of-the-art design riding on structural steel pylons between two floor levels and encased inside and out with bamboo veneer perforated paneling. The same bamboo paneling was distributed throughout the interior of the building. The atrium of the building, at one point sealed off between the 2nd and 3rd floors to add more floor space, has been opened to the skylight again and surrounded by a cap-less glass handrail. Classroom renovations include floor leveling, plaster repair/replacement, new custom lighting fixtures and fresh paint. New faculty offices were constructed inside as well.
